Pongal, Poorna and I

My first time hearing the word 'Pongal' was in 2011, when I was in Durham, North Carolina, USA. I heard about Pongal from my housemate, a pretty Indian lady from Chennai, India.

After more than 24 hours of flight, with 3 transits, it was my first time meeting her but only after few minutes, I walked away and went to my room where I found only a mattress. I was so tired, so I didn't care, I wanted to sleep. It was so cold, the heater was not functioned yet, and it was December. But suddenly this angle came into my room and gave me a comforter.

When I woke up, I smell food. (Or because of the food, then I woke up? Hahaha...). She said, "Ain, the food is ready! I cooked because of Pongal. Let's eat!" That was my first meal in USA.

And that is why, I can say, that I started my day in Durham, North Carolina, with Pongal.

I can't imagine my first day, first night, sleeping without bed sheet, pillow or comforter and only eat instant noodle I brought from Malaysia. But this angle made my first day as one of the beautiful days I had in USA.

Poorna, I miss your herbal tea, your puree, your okra... I miss playing clay with you, disturbing you painting, watching horror movies while eating pizzas, commenting on all the reality shows we watched together, especially cooking shows, shopping food.. shopping art stuff... watching movie in cinema.. listening to your singing when you're in the bathroom (hehehe..).. discussing about Bollywood movies... making, decorating and eating cakes.. taking photos..  we scared each other by switching off the light... we cleaned the house while listening to Hindi songs... wow! You made my lonely and depressed days colorful.. and see, I am survived!

Yes, we talked, we scared each other, we fought,  we sang, we laughed...
I feel so grateful for knowing you, Poorna!

Stay healthy, pretty and happy lovely lady! Take care and all the best! Happy Pongal!

Poorna's black forest cake in making. I was experimenting with back & side lighting

Second layer

We can buy cake and eat with no specific celebration!

I learned to love sushi here! With Poorna (blue shirt) and Vineela (in purple)

I look so fierce with the knife but she look so cute and pretty!

 Testing the color for painting

My favorite scrapbook paper. I used the final piece I had last month.

 Shopping time!

Checking bills! Hehehe... I am always the one who doesn't like to calculate. And I am so lucky that I have friends good in Math!
First time we met here! Heeeee...

That is the counter (in the kitchen) where we were both standing up while waiting for the food or tea ready... to talk..
She was painting, and again, I was with my camera...

I knew nothing about the brushes.. ok, know nothing hehehe.. they are Poorna's

I made this with love!! ;)

Beads she made from clay
 The clay

I love the blue one! And it was made by Poorna!!! My fingers are too big to make it so fine like hers!

Okay, this is my rose. See, how fat it is! Hahaha...!!

Again, Poorna... and to all my Hindu friends, Happy Pongal! :)

3D Puzzle & Girlfriends (Part 2)

Less than four hours after 3D Puzzle and Girlfriends (part 1) was posted, I received a phone called from the champion of the 3D-puzzle-game-in-the-house, Yasotha.

"Ain....!!!! Sedih....!!!! Baca your blog, Yaso nangis...!!!"
Tengok! Tengok! Sebab? Kita manusia, bukan pencipta manusia yang tahu how a human is actually operated ;) Yaso, nangis eh? Hehehe...

Sebab mudah tersentuhnya hati Yaso ni lah, dia boleh mudah sentuh hati orang juga. Her sensor on detecting people's feeling also awesome! At least, for me! Pernah aku konon-konon nak berlagak macho, changing the sad topic, and looking to somewhere else But in 0.005 seconds, she said, "don't change the topic, don't lie, i know you are not okay!" Haaaa.. hebat kan? Hehehehe..

Okay, cukup untuk Yaso. Nanti dia call aku lagi, dia cakap lagi, "Ain!!! I am touched!!! Aku nangis lagi!" :P

Kelebihan perangai dia ni, kalau nak bergumbira, memang perlukan dia ni, and it will be super fun!

I am in my own world, gayanya) sampai dia tak sedar apa dia cakap (merepek). Amboi! Kau ingat kau ratu ke Risha? Nak suruh-suruh orang? Hehehe..

Tapi, tak ada masalah, sebab orang yang dia suruh tu, Azila the Cinderella. Sekarang korang faham kan kenapa Azila diberi gelaran Cinderella? Selain kening dan kulit yang cantik, dia memang senang tolong orang tanpa banyak karenah, bahasa yang sangat baik, santun, kalau usik dia pun dia tak melenting. Haih, memang baiklah orangnya! Cuma kalau baik sangat, nanti senang kena buli tau, Azila! No, no, no.. you are too precious to be easily bullied, okay. Be tougher a little bit then you will be Azila the Cinderella the Lalalala...!! Tapi Azila tak ada lah Cinderella all the time. Bila berniaga, haaaaa... dialah diva! Hantu berniaga budak ni. Nasib baik dia tak keluarkan fatwa, "setiap penyertaan 3D puzzle dikenakan bayaran RM 5! Percuma Kek Anis" Hehehe..

Okay, aku dah cover Risha dan Azila. Sementara internet aku tak okay, itu aku tulis ni (atas notepad dulu). Haih, tak datang lab kena tuduh suka holiday. Datang lab, inilah cabarannya. huhuhu...

Nak tambah pasal pemenang tempat kedua, Ain Cantik! Akulah tu. Hehehe...

Tapi, aku malu nak mengaku aku pemenang tempat kedua.. hehehe.. sebab, Yaso tolong aku. Hehehe.. Ya, aku rasa, inilah aku. Aku pernah ditegur oleh seorang senior Toastmasters (Cindy Wong), "when people puji you, say thank you...". Sebab aku selalu rasa I always have people behind me to help me achieving what I have. Aku ingat aku pernah marah mak aku semata-mata sebab dia kecoh kat kawan dia aku dapat UPSR 5A. Hurm.. I am not sure if it is a good or bad thing, but the bad thing is, I am not sure how to handle people yang bersusah payah nak acknowledge me. In Toastmaster, I learn to accept pujian dan belajar to say thank you & still be humble. Ecewah. Therefore, I learn to praise others too, as an effective pujian, to inspire people, bukan puji kaki kipas atau cium b*****.

Sikap ambil mudah aku yang konon-konon nak cepat dan efisyen tu, akhirnya memakan diri apabila tiba-tiba tingkat dua castle aku tu kubahnya terbalik. Haaa! Tambah haru bila adik aku, Iqa, tanya, "Along, kenapa ada lubang tu?" Ya, aku lupa pasang lantai untuk tingkat dua castle aku!

Bayangkan, princess tu terbalik.
Hehehe.. Sebab pieces tu semua gambar sama depan belakang tau! Cewah, alasan!

I have the tendency to fix the bigger picture first, make it look complete but actually it doesn't. And that is what happening to my thesis now!

Kecoh? Ya, aku kecoh. "Wah! I tengah buat last piece!" saja berlagak nak susahkan hati competitors. Muahaha.. it is a game what...? "Alamak! Terbalik!".
"Aaaahhh!! Tak ada lantai!". Dan betapa overnya aku, semua orang buat puzzle masing-masing sambil duduk, aku sampai meniarap. Over tak?

*****

Satu hari, mak aku ala-ala nak jadi kaunselor.
"Long, kenapa tesis kau tak siap lagi?"
"Ma, supervisor kata ain kene tulis detail lagi. Ada kesimpulan, tapi ain tak tulis kenapa kesimpulan tu jadi macam tu."
"Oh, dulu masa kau sekolah, cikgu pernah complain. Dia kata kau buat latihan Matematik betul, tapi kau tak tulis jalan  kerja"
"Ye ke?"
"Ye, aku faham benau masalah kau tu. Kau jangan nak berlagak pandai sangat lah!"
"Ma!! Mana ada!"
"Okay, kau gelojoh!"
Fine.

****

3D Puzzle and GIRLFRIENDS

Heeeee... cantik! 3D puzzle! Aku suka! Pernah nak beli masa jumpa dekat KSL dulu, ada Eiffel Tower.. KLCC.. macam -macam.. tapi masa tu macam, mahal sangat lah.. macam seratus ringgit juga.. susah sangat lah.. tengah sibuk ni nanti leka.. maka tinggallah harapan.. Jadi bila nampak dekat kedai tudung tu, haruslah aku teruja!

Serius?!" aku separa teriak.
Taukeh kedai tu senyum, "Ya, betul, murah saja!"
"Korang! Nak!" aku dah peluk-peluk dah..
"Kan!
"Ni aku punya, ni Ajan punya.. ni Ida punya.. haaaa...."
"Haaa.. ni untuk Aisy!!! Dan Echa!!!"
"Kita buat game ni masa malam BBQ kita nanti nak?!", cadang si Risha dengan lebih teruja.
"Set!!! Nina pengadil!"

Dan..  hasilnya.... pada malam kami buat BBQ kat rumah, atau nama glamornya, fogging-satu-rumah-tapi- bau-sedap, bila dah kenyang, Game Master Risha pun keluarkan 3D puzzle.. Inilah hasil akhir game tersebut!

Ruang bilik tidur oleh Ida

Castle comel aku!

Yasotha's castle!

Castle Risha the game master! Dengan kerjasama Azila the Cinderella!

Dan... dapur oleh Ajan!

Seronok! 3D puzzle was just a tool.

Kan? Kan? Pastu bila dia dah siap, dia siap tolong aku lagi. Tolong pun tak de la kecoh, "Meh I tolong you...", tak ada. Senyap-senyap je dia menzahirkan kasih sayang. Ecewah. Itulah Yaso dalam real life.. haaaa...

Tetapi! Tengok, dia suka tiba-tiba sentimental. Tiba-tiba! Hehehehe... Tapi perlu ada kawan yang tough untuk cakap, "Yaso, don't think it as a prince charming, it is just a guy at the castle! Focus!". Tahu siapakah kawan yang macho itu? Ajan! Hehehehe..

Okay.. ulasan untuk responden selanjutnya? Tunggu.....

Why we cannot see God

SharingForToday#5 : If God really exist, why we cannot see God? (in Islam)

An analogy; I create a pen. I am the creator, and the pen is the creation.
Can I see the pen?
Sure, I can, I am the creator of it.
Can the pen see its creator, me?
No.
If the pen cannot see me, am I not exist?
.....
Then why the pen cannot see me?
Because I didn't provide it the sense (pancaindera) for it to see me.
Why?
I'm the creator, my wish la!

If God really exist

SharingForToday#8 : If God really exist, then why there are poor, sick, or bad people in this world?

How if I change to this ; If there are people with bad hair cut, people with messy hair or problematic scalp, is it because no profesional hair salon in this world?

They have no proof that God doesn't exist but many people have many prove that God exist.
The next question is, not which one is the real God, but HOW they know which one is the real God?

You wear tudung! Why do hair treatment in salon?

SharingForToday#9 : In hair salons, I always receive comments from other customers, "What a waste.. You do hair treatment but then u wear tudung.." and I always reply with my beauty smile.

Why? MUSLIMs who wearing tudung/hijab should have messy, no fashionable or problematic hair? Or we should not have healthy hair and scalp?

"And, the treatment is expensive, so we should not wear tudung" some people might say. This statement is not valid. See this : Do you realize, in shopping malls, the expensive watches are kept in boxes while the cheap ones are displayed freely without case?

So, expensive doesn't mean need to be exposed. And not being exposed doesn't mean should not be taken care.

And... see these two photos ;

Can you relate expensive and protective.. hurmm.. you know what I mean, right?

By the way, wearing hijab is not the most important thing. The most important thing is, why? Let me give you an example. If my boyfriend loves red, but I usually wear yellow and thinking yellow is good for me. To make him happy, and make myself happy by making him feel happy, I will wear red when I want to meet him next weekend. Furthermore, I also realize, red make me look prettier! So, I love to wear red for him!

Can you accept, doing something for someone, because you wanna take care of the relationship between you and that someone? And will it make you peacefully feel happy?

Therefore, I wear hijab when going out, because of the Creator. I choose to totally submit myself to the Creator by practicing the way of life, which is the authentic & pure way the Creator WANTS (not I want).

That is the meaning of Islam. Peace, submission, authentic, pure. (Click here if you wanna read "where islam come from")

How am I so sure that the way of life I practice is truly the way the Creator wants?
How am I so sure that the Creator is the true one I should worship?
I know my answers. Do you?

Mengingatkanmu Hancurkan Hatiku

Drama "Sedalam Mana Cinta" malam tadi benar-benar bikin hati ditusuk dan dirobek. Sedih! Pedih!
(Pergh.. over!)

Or, am I moved with this song? Hurm...

I present to you, the translation... (don't laugh if it has grammatically errors.. it is a sad song!!! hehehe.. Ops.. huhuhu...)

*I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT YOU!

Without You  (Tanpamu - Siti Nurhaliza & Kris Dayanti)

Usually I sleep soundly
Awakened to think about you
Remembering you, you are now far away

Normally I sleep in peace
I'm moved remembering you
Loving you, but you're far away

I try to forget you
Remembering you breaks my heart
Formerly accord
But now all has passed

Love, let me remind you
That I cannot live without
Love, let me remind you
(I will always remember you)
That I cannot live without

Kerang Bakar Dah Masak

Seronoknya menjemput kawan di lapangan terbang. Jarum jam terasa tak berputar. Mata rasa macam kena gam. Rambutnya pendek diketam, gaya tak susah, kasutnya hitam berkilat. Seorang bermisai tebal, seorang lagi berpakaian seragam polis. Hah? Polis?! Kasut berkilat! Rambut diketam!

Kerang bakar mula masak. Tersengih. Kerang bakar dah masak! Tiba-tiba, mungkin malaikat lalu, ketiga-tiga mereka tak bergerak bibir, diam. Dia toleh 60 darjah ke kiri. Pandangan mata kami bertembung. Waw!

Cepatlah sampai!"

Kawan sampai, aku pandang muka kawan. Ekor mata kanan aku masih nampak kelibat hijau muda berkilau. Tapi tak kulontar pandangan melepasi cermin kereta, takut, malu, atau hati-hati agar tak lampau batas. Cepat-cepat brek tangan aku turunkan, pedal minyak dihenyak, kelibat hijau muda berkilau kutinggal di lapangan terbang.

Sekarang terdetik dalam hati, "Kenapa aku tak toleh lagi sekali?"
Kerang bakar dah siap cecah sambal kicap.
Kulit kerang tinggal kosong.

Where 'ISLAM' come from?

Islam?
Muslim?
Allah?
Muhammad?
Qur'an?

Let us start with Islam.

Do you know what Islam is? ISLAM, was NOT named after any person, tribe or place. Islam is an Arabic word, which have 3 root words. Salam (peace), Aslama (submission), Salima (pure/authentic). Islam is a pure relationship between the one and only God (creator) and creations, which the creations SUBMIT themselves to the Creator in an AUTHENTIC way (way of life that the Creator wants), and reach PEACE.

Furthermore, the name 'Islam' is MENTIONED in the scripture (Qur'an) itself. The name was given by God (Himself), "This day have I perfected your Religion for you, completed My favor upon you and have chosen for you ISLAM as your religion." (Qur'an 5:3)

*Is it possible if I buy a LENOVO handphone, but its manual never mentioned 'LENOVO' in it?*

Additional information :

Christianity is named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism is named after Gautama Buddha, also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, Hinduism is named after a river and Judaism is named after a tribe. But not Islam. The name was given by God, as mentioned in Qur'an. And, it is interesting to know that other books, never mentioned the name of the religions in their texts. (Please let me know if I am wrong here)

So that is it.. Where the name of 'Islam' come from... :)
